Punk rock icon IGGY POP posed as a nude model at the New York Academy of Art for a future exhibit.

When the 68-year-old rocker entered the art studio, we’re inclined to believe he had the lyrics to his STOOGES song 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' running through his head before he disrobed and placed himself on a table for 21 art students to capture his likeness in their portraits.

The event was spearheaded by artist Jeremy Deller and executed with the help of the Brooklyn Museum who organized the ‘Iggy Pop Life Class.’

The portraits drawn by the 21 students, whose ages range between 19 and 80, will be featured in the museum’s fall 2016 exhibit and then be taken on the road.

Commenting on the idea, Deller told Pitchfork, “The life class is a special place in which to scrutinize the human form. As the bedrock of art education and art history, it is still the best way to understand the body. For me it makes perfect sense for Iggy Pop to be the subject of a life class; his body is central to an understanding of rock music and its place within American culture. His body has witnessed much and should be documented.”

Earlier this year, Iggy Pop announced a surprise collaborative album, Post Pop Depression, with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal).

The record will be out March 18 and so far three songs have been released: “Gardenia,” “Break Into Your Heart” and “Sunday.”
