On March 12, IRON MAIDEN were dealt a heavy blow when their custom Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet Ed Force One was badly damaged in a ground accident in Santiago, Chile.

Two of the jet’s engines were partially torn apart, leaving the band and their crew to scramble as they secured alternate means of transportation and kept the tour right on course. Thankfully, MAIDEN have provided an update revealing the jet has been repaired and will be rejoining the band as they continue to support The Book of Souls worldwide.

Working with Air Atlanta, the company MAIDEN leases the plane from, and Boeing, teams converged immediately to lay out the daunting details involved in replacing two $4 million engines as the Ed Force One remained in Chile.

Technicians were flown in from Iceland and Saudi Arabia where they repaired the damage as the parts arrived after being transported over 7,000 miles. The work was done around the clock as the crew feverishly restored the plane to its rightful glory.

IRON MAIDEN posted a lengthy statement on their Facebook page, as they’ve been unprecedentedly active across all their social media channels on this tour.
