Phil Collins to Perform at U.S. Open
12 August 2016Phil Collins will make his way back to the concert stage later this month.
The former Genesis frontman, who’s stayed largely out of the public eye while battling a variety of debilitating health maladies in recent years, has been booked to perform at the opening ceremony of the U.S. Open on Aug. 29 — an appearance confirmed by Collins’ official social media outlets.
According to wire reports, Collins will perform one song, 'In the Air Tonight,' at the ceremony. As noted in a press release issued by the U.S. Tennis Association, the song selection ties in with the Open’s new venue as well as the upcoming release of another best-of set culled from his solo career.
This is also the opening track on his forthcoming album, The Singles, to be released in October, along with the publication of his autobiography, Not Dead Yet.
Earlier this year, Collins returned to the stage after a six-year absence — and though he’s stopped shy of announcing any new music, he announced the end of his retirement last fall after planning a series of deluxe solo album reissues.
