Rod Stewart has been knighted. The singer, now officially Sir Roderick, was bestowed knighthood at Buckingham Palace in recognition of his “services to music and charity.”


The knighting was conducted by the Duke of Cambridge and Sir Roderick was honored in the Queen’s birthday honors list, reports the BBC, Stewart was accompanied by his wife, Penny Lancaster, and two young children, Alastair and Aiden.
 
In a public statement, Stewart raved about being knighted at Buckingham Palace. “[It’s] a monumental honor . . . I couldn’t ask for anything more. I thank Her Majesty and promise to ‘wear it well.'”
