SEPULTURA‘s 1996 standout Roots helped spur a new musical revolution and the band’s estranged members and brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera have been playing the album in its entirety over the last year. Last Friday (March 3) at Slim’s in San Francisco, the band brought out FAITH NO MORE frontman Mike Patton to reprise his guest role on the song 'Lookaway.'

The man, the myth, the legend — Mr. Mike Patton,” introduced Max in the video below. The song’s low swinging groove opened with the nervous tension of Iggor’s steady beat and ominous effects as Patton let out a shriek before the guitar and bass entered. Patton, who possesses one of the most diverse voices in rock and metal, added an animalistic quality to the song as the San Francisco crowd was treated to truly special moment.

While in the studio, SEPULTURA enlisted a number of guest musicians, including KORN‘s Jonathan Davis and LIMP BIZKIT‘s DJ Lethal, who both performed on 'Lookaway' in addition to Patton. The album is renowned for its cultural impact as the band worked with the Xavante tribe of Brazil on the recording.
