FRANK ZAPPA's kids kickstart legal war over rocker's legacy
14 March 2017The children of late rock legend Frank Zappa have gone to war over their dad's legacy.
Diva and Ahmet Zappa, who run the Zappa estate, are suing brother Dweezil, claiming he’s spreading lies that tarnish everything their father worked for.
In their legal documents, obtained by TMZ, they are asking a judge to let them start a website to counter Dweezil's claim they are trying to ruin his career by denying him the right to perform his Zappa Plays Zappa tour.
Ahmet and Diva insist they gave him the right to tour with Zappa Plays Zappa for 10% of gross receipts.
The siblings are also upset by the name of their defiant brother's new tour, Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever the F--- he wants: Cease and Desist Tour 2016.
The Zappas have been at war ever since their mother Gail passed control of the family’s trust fund to Ahmet and Diva, leaving Dweezil and Moon as beneficiaries.
The siblings most recently clashed over a Kickstarter-funded documentary, directed by Alex Winter, about their father, which Ahmet and Diva have endorsed but Dweezil and Moon haven’t.
Frank Zappa died in 1993.
