PENTAGRAM's BOBBY LIEBLING Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison
25 October 2017PENTAGRAM singer Bobby Liebling has plead guilty to 'Abuse and Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult Custodian,' according to court documents uploaded on the Maryland Judiciary web site. This past spring, the doom metal legends had to perform a handful of dates sans their frontman after he was arrested for one count of assault on a vulnerable adult.
The court documents were unearthed by MetalSucks, revealing that Liebling was sentenced to 18 months in the Montgomery County Detention Center, minus time served. Upon his release, Liebling will be on probation for three years. Though it has not officially been disclosed, the victim is believed to be Liebling's mother, who is 87 years of age.
PENTAGRAM are largely considered to be the forerunners of doom metal, as detailed in the 2011 documentary Last Days Here (watch below).
The film introduced a new generation of music fans to the band, raising them from virtual obscurity to prominence. Liebling is shown dealing with his various addictions while living in his mother's basement, struggling to get his life together and ultimately reforming PENTAGRAM to much acclaim.
Having been open with his battles with drugs, Liebling seemed to get his life together, until the aforementioned arrest in spring. The official statement on the situation from the band at the time read:
"Bobby called on April 17 saying he had been admitted to the hospital. He called again on April 19, this time after being transferred to a Maryland detention facility. He’s now awaiting a preliminary hearing at which time it will be determined if a follow-up on any alleged charges are necessary. An update will be published when information is available. The band will be fulfilling all currently booked appearances with 36-year mainstay guitarist Victor Griffin performing all vocals."
