R.E.M. Meet Screaming Trees in TUATARA
11 March 2007R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin plus 7 more musicians, including Mike Stone, Scott McCaughey and Steve Berlin, plan to release a new album with their side-project called Tuatara.
Initially formed in Seattle a decade ago to write and record music for film soundtracks, Tuatara have ended up recording four full-length albums - "Breaking the Ethers" (1996), "Trading with the Enemy" (1998), "Cinemathique" (2001) and "The Loading Program" (2003).
Following a four-year hiatus, the band reconvened to record "East of the Son", set to be released on June 12 via Fast Horse Recordings. The album shall contain 16 songs full of "experimental 60's rock'n'roll with Spanish and Arabic influences".
