House Where CHESTER BENNINGTON Committed Suicide Sold For $2.165 Million

According to Zillow, the house where LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington took his life was sold last month. The 3,956-square-foot the contemporary-style residence initially went on the rental market in January for $8,800 a month. It was then listed for sale in March for $2,480,000, later reduced to $2,399,000. In June, the price was trimmed to $2,385,000 and in July to $2,250,000, before the spacious home was finally sold in late August for $2,165,000.

According to public records, Bennington purchased the house in May 2017 for $2.4 million. The five-bedroom, four-bathroom house is in an affluent part of Los Angeles County on the edge of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, surrounded mostly by cliffs and other quiet neighborhoods that are nearly as wealthy. Curbed Los Angeles reported last year that it had one of the lowest crime rates in the low-crime South Bay and had just five "serious, violent crimes" in 2014, four of which involved acquaintances.

This past January, Bennington's widow asked fans to stop leaving flowers, letters and other tributes to her husband at the house. A steady stream of followers have flocked to the residence in Palos Verdes Estates ever since Bennington took his life more than a year ago, leaving flowers and notes close to the driveway of the suburban Los Angeles home.

Chester committed suicide by hanging on July 20, 2017 at the age of 41. A private funeral service took place nine days later near his home in Palos Verdes.

LINKIN PARK paid tribute to Bennington last October with an emotional three-hour show that featured numerous guests joining the band onstage at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The band has yet to announce whether it intends to continue without Bennington.
