GUNS N’ ROSES, ALICE COOPER and CHRIS CORNELL were among those announced today as nominees for the 61st annual Grammy Awards, to be held on Feb. 10. Newcomers GHOST and GRETA VAN FLEET were also recognized.

CORNELL earned a Best Rock Performance nod for 'When Bad Does Good,' a previously unreleased track from the posthumous box set that came out last month. This year's made-for-TV production of Jesus Christ Superstar, in which COOPER played King Herod, received a Best Musical Theater Album nomination. GUNS N’ ROSES' massive Locked N' Loaded edition of Appetite for Destruction also made the shortlist for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package, with the nod going to the art directors.

GRETA VAN FLEET's 2017 double EP From the Fires proved popular with the Recording Academy. It was nominated for Best Rock Album, while 'Highway Tune' and 'Black Smoke Rising' were mentioned in the Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song categories, respectively. The Michigan-based band of brothers were nominated for Best New Artist, as well. GHOST received two nods: Prequelle was nominated for Best Rock Album, and 'Rats' for Best Rock Song.

Current Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee John Prine earned a trio of nominations. The Tree of Forgiveness was shortlisted for Best Americana Album, and two of its songs ('Knockin' on Your Screen Door' and 'Summer's End') will compete against each other for Best American Roots Song. Other classic rockers earning nominations include ALICE IN CHAINS (Best Rock Album), ERIC CLAPTON (Best Music Film), BOB DYLAN (Best Album Notes), STING (Best Reggae Album) and BOZ SCAGGS (Best Contemporary Blues Album).
