Guitarists Break World Record in India
29 October 2007On Friday, October 26, 1,730 guitarists gathered on a remote hilltop in Northeast India in an effort to break the existing Guinness world record for the largest guitar ensemble. The musicians performed Bob Dylan's classic "Knockin' on Heaven's Door".
The current record belongs to Kansas City's 1,721 guitarists, who performed Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" in 2006.
"Though we set a new world record, we are sad as we were expecting more than 2,000 guitarists," chief organiser Aiban Mawkhroh told Reuters.
