In March 2007 we informed you a about the birth of a new super project, Freebass, featuring three famous bass players - Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), Mani (Stone Roses, Primal Scream) and Andy Rourke (The Smiths).

Well, the time has finally come and the group, which also features vocalist Gary Briggs (ex-Haven), has announced plans to release its as-yet-untitled debut album... in March 2009.
The wait is definitely gonna be a long one, but we guess it shall be worth it, having mind that Liam Gallagher (Oasis), Ian Brown (Stone Roses), Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) and Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) have been confirmed to take part in the CD as guest vocalists.

As fot the music on Freebass' record, it's been described by Mr. Hook as "a cross between Joy Division, New Order, Stone Roses, Smiths, Primal Scream with a load of reggae and northern soul thrown in..."
