Anvil play surprise set at documentary premiere
16 February 2009Veteran metallers Anvil played a surprise set at the British premiere of documentary 'Anvil! The Story Of Anvil' last night (February 15).
The screening, which took place at London's Shepherds Bush Empire as part of the Secret Cinema series, saw fans dress up as '80s metal heads.
The film, which is released on Friday (February 20), documents the band's fall from grace and their subsequent attempts at trying to make it once more.
Following a screening of the documentary the Toronto duo performed a short set, which saw them joined on closer 'Metal On Metal' by Scott Ian of Anthrax.
Speaking to the audience, Anvil frontman Steve Kudlow was visibly moved by the support of the London crowd.
"We did this recently in LA and you guys smoked them!" he declared.
Anvil played:
'This Is Thirteen'
'666'
'White Rhino'
'Metal On Metal'
As previously reported, there are current efforts - including an online petition - to get Anvil to play this year's Glastonbury festival.
