Replacements Reunion Probably Not Happening
23 February 2009Don't get too optimistic about a Replacements reunion: The band says it's not too likely.
Although reunion rumors have swirled around the Minneapolis rock act for years, bassist Tommy Stinson told Billboard that he and front man Paul Westerberg aren't any closer to making it happen than they were years ago. In fact, Stinson said the only motivation to reunite at this point would be the gigantic checks being waved under their noses by promoters eager to get them on a bill.
Reunion talk started to hit the 'net in 2006, when the act's retrospective, 'Don't You Know Who I Think I Was?', included a pair of new tracks. Since then, the band's admitted to considering accepting those mountains of money to reunite for festivals last year.
