This announcement was made by Ivan Nestorov (nicknamed "The Ameba") of Sofia Music Enterprises at a special press conference on Friday evening. The decision was made by Depeche Mode's management after they received a number of submissions from the promoters.

"We sent them quite a few CDs of Bulgarian bands, complete with photosets and bios, but that was their final decision - no local support" said Mr. Nestorov in reply to a question asked by Vassil Varbanov of radio Tangra Mega Rock.

There will be a local DJ though, namely the artist Mo, who'll be spinning records as the doors of the national "Vassil Levski" stadium open.
The main support act will be Uk band Ladytron, whose line-up features Bulgarian born Mira Arroyo.

Another announcement at the press conference was made by Carlsberg representative Kamen Alexov, who revealed that 2000 lucky fans will win free tickets if they buy a bottle of Tuborg beer and find a lucky number on the lid's flipside.

Depeche Mode's new video (for the track "Wrong") was also premiered amidst comments that it was rather "brutal".

Depeche Mode play Sofia on May 18th a part of the Tuborg Green Fest 2009.
