Converse Launch AC/DC and Metallica Trainers
07 March 2009Iconic trainer company Converse are set to launch a new range featuring Australian hard rock legends AC/DC.
The brand recently launched a new trainer designed on The Who's use of the Union Jack. The pair quickly became the company's best selling to date, outselling even the traditional black Chuck Taylor.
Forthcoming designs will include legendary rockers AC/DC and thrash overlords Metallica. A pair designed around famed artwork from Pink Floyd are also reportedly in the works.
Founded in 1917, Converse were around a long time before The Ramones turned their iconic range into perhaps the definitive punk trainer. One of the longest lasting footwear brands, Converse have survived tide and trend with their basic design intact.
Despite their iconic status, Converse were recently bought by Nike for $305 million plus debt.
Converse marketing chief Geoff Cottrill told the New York Post, "we're planning another line of sneakers that will feature Metallica and AC/DC that will be available in the fall. We're always looking to do more collaborations with bands and this one should be just as creative as the previous ones."
