This is obviously a rather noble venture. Here are the details:

WWF and radio Tangra Mega Rock are proud to announce a contest for bands and musicians, who would be willing to take part in the Sofia segment of 'Earth Hour' - a very special global event!

THE EVENT:

'Earth Hour' - 28th March 2009, next Saturday! More than 1600 cities worldwide will switch off their electricity for one hour - Earth Hour! We, in Bulgaria, will be shutting off all electricity at 8:30 p.n.

THE SOFIA CONCERT is organized by the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF). Proceedings will kick off exactly one hour before the big electricity blackout - at 7:30 p.m. local time, on a stage built in front of the 'Ivan Vazov' National Theatre.

There will be absolutely no use of any electricity whatsoever. The stage will be lit up by a mass of candles and there won't be any PA.

THE CONTEST:

Open to anyone who can create melodic or totally chaotic sounds without the use of electricity. This means your local fire brigade brass band or your local granny choir can take part. Oh, and ROCK bands are most welcome too.

THE WINNERS:

The winners will be provided with the opportunity to show off their talents in the course of a 30-minute set, as part of a worldwide event. As stated above, the stage lighting will be entirely made up of candles. The participants will not be paid for this show, but they'll get to perform on a unique stage, at a unique event.
