MySpace co-founder and CEO Chris DeWolfe has made it official -- he's leaving the company.

According to an announcement late Wednesday, DeWolfe's decision not to renew his contract with the company was "by mutual agreement" with NewsCorp's chief digital officer Jonathan Miller.

The company did not specify exactly when DeWolfe will step down, and noted that he will continue to serve on the board of MySpace China as well as act as a strategic advisor to the company.

The fate of co-founder and president Tom AndersonВ (left) remains in limbo. In the statement, Miller said discussions are underway for Anderson to assume a new role in the organization, but no details were provided as to what that might be.

The announcement followed speculation that DeWolfe, Anderson, and others at the company were about to be fired, spurred by a post in TechCrunch
