Question: How many Holes does singer/guitarist Courtney Love have? Answer: One, which is one more than she had about a month ago when working on her own Chinese Democracy, that long-awaited sophomore solo effort known as Nobody's Daughter. Riddled with issues, the album has been in the works since Love left rehab in 2005 but still has yet to see the light of day. Even a January 1 release date wasn't honoured this year.

However, as Love related to NME recently, after going through an endless stream of problems, she has resolved to forego the solo endeavour and release the album under her previous band's moniker, citing its drastic change in direction as the reason to do so.

The monkey wrenches in getting Nobody's Daughter off the ground? Well, everything from embezzlement to ghosts and gerbils, three producers, four studios, countless band-member changes and, well, like we said, the Chinese Democracy syndrome: everything except the artist themselves seems to be an issue.

Love notes that many of the songs written with producer Linda Perry and cohort Billy Corgan will still make the final cut, though because the album is more akin to Hole's fiery alt-rock as opposed to the MOR direction she had initially decided upon, Hole has been revived. As for a line-up, the only mentions so far are guitarist Micko Larkin and back-up vocals from old Hole bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur. NME reports Auf Der Maur may join Love in Hole for a tour next year, as well.

The finishing touches to Nobody's Daughter are being attended to by producer Michael Beinhorn (the Bronx, Ozzy Osbourne). No label or release date have been set, but NME says the they’ve heard the entire album.
