CHIKENFOOT’s Smith seriously injured
02 July 2009Happening supergroup Chickenfoot have been forced to cancel tonight’s gig in Spain after drummer Chad Smith tore a bicep.
Smith, best known as sticksman with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, collaborated with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony (Van Halen) and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani on the side project, which they’ve now committed to keep developing.
But their debut tour ground to a halt last night as the band were forced to cancel their Madrid appearance after Smith injured himself during their Paris gig.
A band statement says: “Chickenfoot cannot perform in Madrid due to a serious injury.
“Chad was performing last night in Paris and during the show he hurt his right arm badly. He has torn his small bicep and cannot play the show.
“The band is very sorry they cannot play for their Spanish fans this week, and plan to return as soon as possible.”
Chickenfoot have other shows booked this week, which are also likely to be cancelled, although there’s been no word yet.
