This is a whole selection of bands who will perform on the first day - 14 August on the Jack Daniel's Rock Stage at the Spirit of Burgas 2009.

FRIDAY – 14 August

20:00 – 20:30 – BREAKPOINT  - One of the big revelations of the Jack Daniel’s Rock Contest 2008. And they have the most promising guitarist of the Bulgarian rock scene these days – Dido Peshev. They would tell you they are influenced by bands like Breaking Benjamin, Sevendust, Tool, Deftones, Staind, Dark New Day, Amplifier.  Just check them to see if they are right or wrong!

20:45 – 21:20 – BERNAYS PROPAGANDA (Macedonia) - A danceable new wave/post-punk band with charming and attractive female vocal. But don’t be misleded, we are talking here about extremely political act influenced by a variety of bands, from Submission Hold over Fugazi all the way to the Gossip and Gang of Four. Firm drum beats accompanied with thick and groovy bass lines are the base upon which layers of funky and broken guitar chords are placed, and above all comes unique, strong and remarkable female voice as a cherry on the top. Were lunatic enthusiasm, bursting energy and catchy atmosphere already mentioned?

21:35 – 22:20 – ELVIS JACKSON (Словения) - Their latest album ‘Against the Gravity’ was recorded and produced by Bill Gould – the bass player of Faith No More himself. And it was mixed by Rich Veltrop (RATM, Slayer, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers). ELVIS JACKSON is a special rock group that has developed its own musical expression with a help of ska, punk, hard core, reggae and metal influences. The band was formed at the end of 1997 and since then have played more then 600 shows all over Europe sharing the stage with the likes of  Fishbone, The Toasters, Murphy's Law, Subhumans, The Offspring, Asian Dub Foundation, Vandals, D.O.A., Goldfinger, Citizen Fish and many more. Now the Slovenians got the opening slot for the FAITH NO MORE concert in Bucharest – Romania. On the day before you can check them at the Jack Daniel’s Rock stage of Spirit of Burgas 2009 in Bulgaria.

22:30 – 23:20 – AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - “If one day, SLIPKNOT decide to play in Bulgaria and need a local support – the slot should be given to ASAP. They are good! Really good!” This is what we wrote after the performance of the boys at the festival last year and today they should be even better. ASAP was formed back in 1999, so they are now celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band. The debut album is almost done and expected to be released end of September. They promised to play for the first time 2 songs from the album that were never performed live before. Wow, we can’t wait for 14th August.

23:30 – 01:00 – FAITH NO MORE on main stage

01:10 – 02:00 – ODD CREW - This is the NEW BIG THING on the Bulgarian metal scene. A killer band of great guys who make ballbustin’ music. They’ve been playing together since they were (literally) small kids. And after 10 years of playing together they decided to mark a new beginning by changing the band moniker to ODD CREW and recording a new album ‘We Are What We Are’. The response from the audience was immediate and now we can easily say that EVERYONE love ODD CREW and their Machine Head meets Down sound but with a very personal touch in the songwriting. The guys will embark on a European tour this autumn with dates in Germany, Switzerland and Hungary. Before that we’ll have the chance to see them co-headlining the first night on the Jack Daniel’s Rock Stage at Spirit of Burgas 2009.

02:15 – 03:00 – BABYFACE CLAN - Seminal alternative (whatever the fuck that means) band from the capital of much-maligned Bulgaria. Toured Eastern Europe (Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Serbia etc.), supported Stereo MC's, Asian Dub Foundation, Transglobal Underground etc. Album "Romantica" received record number of local music award nominations in 2001. Band was banned from most local radio & TV stations due to not singing in Bulgarian. Built sizeable following mainly through high-energy, enthralling live performances. Frontman Nasso and main songwriter Ivo formed Imbeciles & the Poison Umbrella in late 2003 and relocated to London to sign for indie label OLLA. Other band members all now have new projects. Keep an eye on the BLOGS here and we will be revealing little snippets of our history and, believe me, there are enough adventures to write a book...which we soon will do anyway.
