Karen O Goes Solo on Where the Wild Things Are
25 August 2009The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' frontwoman Karen O is taking a break from the boys in the band to provide music to a children's film.
Karen O returns with a new backing act, the Kids, to provide the tunes for the film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's 'Where the Wild Things Are'. The singer tapped the help of a lot of other terribly hip musicians to get the job done, too, calling on help from Tristan Bechet (Services), Tom Biller (Afternoons), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter), Brian Chase and Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age), Aaron Hemphill (Liars), Greg Kurstin (The Bird and the Bee), Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs), Oscar Michel (Gris Gris) and Imaad Wasif. She also got a children's choir on board for the gig, too.
The first single from the effort is 'All Is Love,' which receives a digital releaseВ today (Aug. 25). The hardcopy album arrives in stores Sept. 29.
