New KINKS Album In The Works
10 November 2009Tired of waiting for a new Kinks album? There could be a new one from the band next year, their first since 1993’s Phobia.
Band leader Ray Davies has been in the studio with original drummer Mick Avory, plus later members Jim Rodford (bass) and Ian Gibbons (keyboards).
He told Billboard: “We’ve got four, five new songs…and I’m just sort of getting them motivated and seeing what they’re playing like, because I haven’t played with the Kinks for eight or nine years.”
Whether Davies’ brother Dave will be involved remains to be seen. “We’ll see how he reacts to it,” Davies says of his brother. “If he’s physically able to do it is another matter, because he was quite seriously ill (he had a stroke in 2004). But we’re in communication, and we’re not disregarding it yet.”
