Legendary Bulgarian drummer dies
18 November 2009These are gloomy days indeed. We at Tangra Mega Rock are shellshocked by the news of Ivan Latinov’s untimely death. Ivan was one of the best drummers to ever come out of Bulgaria, had many friends and was highly respected within the music community.
In fact the man was a true legend and will be greatly missed. He was the drummer for cult Bulgarian metal band ERA in the late 80s and then went on to play in Africa – a band formed by ex-Review bassist Vassil Giurov.
Ivan passed away yesterday from a heart attack. His closest friends claim he had been left devastated by the death of his girlfriend from anorexia last year. Ivan Latinov was Era’s second drummer, after Mihail Yalandjiev – Tzuro, who tragically passed away on 12th September 2007.
Service will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the Ritual Hall at Sofia’s Central Cemetery.В
