The band is working on a new album that they're describing as "guitar-heavy."
Guitarist Ed Mundell recently told Metal Injection the album, which doesn't yet have a title, should be out sometime this summer.

"[It will have] 15 tracks and Dave [Wyndorf, vocals/guitars] is doing the vocals right now," he said. "He couldn't make it tonight 'cause he's in Van Nuys doing vocals. We're waiting for him to finish it up."

The disc is described as a bit of a departure from the New Jersey rockers' previous material, and Mundell says it's like "space rock and The Stooges." It's being produced by Matt Hyde (Die Mannequin, Strung Out).

"There's no hit singles — it's all just rocking, lots of crazy effects. And Dave's singing better than ever. Lots of guitars. Four weeks of tracking guitars — nothing but guitars."

Monster Magnet's last album was 2007's 4-Way Diablo.
