Governor Sued for Using Talking Heads Song
25 May 2010Watch out politicians who want to jump musicians' trains and jack their music for your campaign: You may end up in court.
To wit: David Byrne filed a $1 million lawsuit against Florida Governor Charlie CristВ used a Talking Heads song , 'Road to Nowhere,' in campaign ads, according to Billboard.
Although Crist -- who is now running for re-election as an independent -- stopped using the track when ordered to by Byrne's label, the singer/guitarist isn't satisfied with the outcome. He told the magazine that the damage for the copyright infringement's already been done by Crist's unlicensed and uncleared use of the song.
