FLASHBACK TO OLD COMMIE DAYS DURING MEMORIAL CONCERT IN SOFIA!
07 June 2010Despite numerous statements of unequivocal support from City Hall and the fact that it began with an opening speech by Sofia Mayoress Yordanka Fandukova, the annual Georgi Minchev memorial concert had a brush with the strong arm of the law!
On Sunday, the second night of the show, as Barabi Blues Band were midway through their second song in front of a huge crowd, police came onstage and pulled the plug.
This happened at 10:15 p.m. Seeing as it was announced on the concert posters that BBB would be onstage at 10 p.m. they obviously had permission from the local council to play past the usual curfew for open-air events.
After lengthy negotiations between the concert's promoters Vasko the Patch and Milena and the men in uniform, Barabi Blues band were able to once again take to the stage.
