If you own Rhino Record’s 21 track The Jesus and Mary Chain retrospective, 21 Singles, you might as well throw it away and erase it’s memory from you mind, because it is about to become obsolete.

Why? Well, next week will see the release of a new 44 song, career-spanning set that will both complete the collection of every JAMC fan and intimidate the hell out of anyone thinking about checking the Scottish indie-legends out.

Though there is also a four disc B-sides and rarities set floating around out there, this will give novices the hits they want, while also offering something exciting for seasoned fans.

Upside Down: The Best Of
features two compilation cuts from JAMC that are hard to get and will be the last pieces in some collections. One song, “33 1/3″, an obvious homage to the classic third installment of The Naked Gun series, was only featured on a radio station compilation from 1995 that is long out of print. The other was on the Heroes: Original Soundtrack. Titled “All Things Must Pass”, it is the only new song the band has recorded since reuniting in 2007. (Via Slicing Up Eyeballs)

The Reid brothers should really work on that troubling trivia bit. Maybe a new album? But, until they record some new jams, enjoy these old ones.
