Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Makes 'American Idiot' Debut
30 September 2010Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong showed off his acting chops on Broadway last TuesdayВ night (Sept. 28) while making his debut in the band's musical, 'American Idiot.'
After announcing the acting gig last weekend, Armstrong kicked off an eight-day run of performances at New York's St. James Theater as the character St. Jimmy, the show's flashy, drug-peddling antihero.
Armstrong's performance in the play, which he co-wrote with Michael Mayer and debuted on Broadway last spring, marks the singer's first foray into acting.
Following the conclusion of the play, Armstrong joined the rest of the cast onstage to perform his band's hit 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).'
Armstrong will perform in 'American Idiot' through Oct. 3, when he will rejoin Green Day for their South American tour.
