It seems that Mendeed have absolutely no time for anything that would distract them from their sole purpose - to completely devastate senses with multi-layered metal.
While their previous album, "This War Will Last Forever", still owed a gimmick or two to the much worn out metalcore genre, this time Scotland's best-kept secret offers nothing but a cataclysmic tirade of modern speed metal dealings. An occasional dab of hardcore inspired riffery only makes the picture bigger.
"The Dead Live by Love" will leave your years bleeding. Mendeed's aggressive yet tuneful blend has something for nearly every headbanger. Choruses, once split between growled and clean vocals, now are much more balanced and focused. In fact, Mendeed reduced drastically the rough vocal lines in favour of twin guitar passages and incendiary solos (Steven Nixon vs. Steph Gildea).
The young Glaswegians can really play, and by promoting their new album they are starting to receive the attention they deserved after 6 years of existence. "The Dead Live by Love" demonstrates large amounts of hunger and, despite the fact that it is really hard to criticize Mendeed at the moment, unfortunately they still have to catch up with bands like Dragonforce if they want to achieve massive levels of popularity. Morality of such actions would be questionable though. Big fucking dilemma, isn't it?
