Now that’s a classic example of an underground rock band’s wet dream coming true. Sanctity, who’d once been simply nobody in this giant music industry world, suddenly were not only recognized as cool by people like Matt Heafy (Trivium) and Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), but were also taken onboard for the infamous Gigantour plus graciously offered a deal by Roadrunner Records.
With such acquaintances you don’t really need to waste time in shitty studios. You go straight for an album and skip all crap that others are forced to experience for decades. So, the question is: do we really think that such band will be sustainable in its success? A tough one, to be honest. Not sure about it. But the thing I’m pretty sure about is that Sanctity deserve the attention they get. At least for the time being. Why? Because, dudes, they fucking rock!
It’s no secret in recent times that this type of half old-school and half new-school metal has seen a significant rise of popularity with an increasing legion of disciples hurling the genre towards the mainstream. And although “Beneath the Machine” is a shit-hot start for a debut album, it becomes clear almost immediately that Sanctity are Trivium’s second generation. If songs like “Road to Bloodshed” and “Laws of Reason” are not enough, the best proof is right in the middle of the album and is called “Zeppo”. This is also probably the best shot in the whole CD.
Sanctity somehow remind me of those shredding metal bands with catchy lines in the late 80’s and this add more positive emotions towards them. All in all, “Road to Bloodshed” is a stunning debut of a band that is going straight to the top. And the first step is Download. Show some respect.
