For some they will be always known as “the greatest British hope of the 90’s”, but there’s always been more to The Wildhearts, be it the unique musicianship or the big-voiced personality of Ginger, who is also undisputedly the best lyricist of his generation. To all who have lost The Wildhearts, this CD proves to be more that just a good surprise, because after - numerous projects and solo albums - Ginger finally returns where he belongs (and he always does). Fully recovered from the self destructive attitude of street preachers and with a new bass player (Scott Sorry - ex-Amen), The Wildhearts have released a killer album that kicks off with the 9-minute epic “Rooting for the Bad Guy”, which shows another, stunning multidimensional aspect of the band, never known before. “New Flesh” plays with a couple of great Led Zeppelin moments, while “She’s All That” is a straight rock’n’roll song for your car stereo. There’s something for everybody in this album, but it would be a shame to take a few tracks out for a “burnt” compilation. The songs are different, but they so seamlessly interact with one another that you can’t help but fall in love with “The Wildhearts”, because it’s nearly perfect. Arenas surely wait.
