For a straight edge metalcore band from Germany, Deadlock seem quite far from their own battleground with this album. Of course, we are aware of that tendency such bands to sound more like melodic death metal and this is still arguable who takes the blame - At the Gates or In Flames - but if you have an opener called "We Shall All Bleed" that kicks in with brutal death metal tempo, you either have to wake up or fall into even deeper nap. Unfortunately, for me it was the latter. "Wolves" can hardly see more than a round in my stereo. Most tracks might attempt to sound gritty and loud, but the desperate result is ugly. It's so lifeless, that if Deadlock were a horse, it would beg to be shot in the head. It's not only the overwhelming exploitation of the male versus female vocal duel approach, but the whole mixture of melodic death metal with occasional industrial spots here and there, which now seems a tired and cliched conception to come up with these days. Plus we have a terrible ballad-like song called "To Where the Skies Are Blue" comparable only to even more terrifying and considered merely disgusting among proper metal fans songs of Evanescence. The overall problem of German metalcore bands has become more and more apparent - they follow the same outdated principles, designed in the USA several years ago when bands like Lamb of God and Chimaira had just started shaping their brand. Sorry, guys, times are changing.
