Incredibly, thrashers S.S.S. start off young, dumb and full of vodka. They hail from England, which is twice as incredible, knowing that Sabbat and Onslaught were almost the only adequate thrash names from a country still held in a tight grip by NWOBHM at the time.
Their self-titled album is one year old actually, but due to worldwide request for fresh crossover acts, Earache, their new record label, decided to re-release it. Fair enough, one would say, as long as people become more and more aware of S.S.S.. Now with Flemming Rasmussen producing the debut of England’s young thrash metal hopes Еvile, and the incredible new crossover classic by Municipal Waste, it seems we’ll have a snowball effect soon and judging by the sounds from their debut, S.S.S. will be right there, on the frontline.
It sounds raw and rampant. The guitars rattle like overheated machine guns. There are high-speed grinding riffs, superhuman intensity and overwhelming dark (from time to time completely clueless) humor, but hey, it’s the good violent fun of the old days. Influenced by Nuclear Assault, S.O.D., Napalm Death, Exodus and Suicidal Tendencies, these guys will be merciless if you let them home (even if it’s the shape of a CD), because they will drink the beer, eat your pizza, fuck your cat, throw out your parents and, most importantly, when they play, even your vegetables will be moshing, that’s for sure.
If you’re still asking why checking them out, here’s another couple of reasons: first, they have killer designed old-school t-shirts, and second, their album is available on vinyl in eight different colors. Who else can do this in 2007? Think about it. S.S.S will be bigger than the devil soon.
