Only people who are not acquainted with Korpiklaani’s music do not know that they make the happiest, most cheerful and drunkard’s tunes that can be heard these days. High mood flows from every note - from the fast lively melodies of the violin to the following bright chords of the accordion.
Every album of these Finnish guys is full of undying positive energy. “Tervaskanto” is not an exception and more than successfully establishes the name of its creators. Three years in a row we receive high-quality material from the six musicians. These albums may be perceived as part of one big project presented in different forms, as all songs reveal one general story and their separation through the albums is only under condition.
The lyrics in “Tervaskanto” are once again connected to the eternal drinking and the following happiness. After them the mythologies come into the spotlight, representing the main characters and the nature where everything becomes united in harmony.
Korpiklaani like to start their albums at accelerated rates. In this case, “Let’s Drink” is not actually a surprise, because it is played in the well-known style of composing. This does not make it less entertaining, but transforms it into a good forerunner for the rest of the CD. Actually, there’s nothing so special and new here, but there is no need for it at all as well. Once you play “Tervaskanto”, it is hard to realize when it ends. And after a beer or two, the wish for playing it again gets stronger and stronger.
After this description it will be easy for you to think that this album must be heard only in the above-described situation, but this won’t be correct. “Tervaskanto” is pleasant for listening to in various conditions, because it recharges with its original sound and high level of musicianship. Yet I recommend you to be in a loud place with friends, with a beer in your hand. This music is simply created for such moments!
