There is nothing easier than writing about a good album. It is a nice job to meet every creation of Winds, because they hold up the high class that they’ve created years ago. “Prominence and Demise” is a great effort, and this fact gets proof right with the first songs. The band has a unique style which is changed now a bit, making it interesting for the new listeners and wonderful for the old fans. Yet there are not many experiments in the new CD, but the best that can be brought for this project by its creators. To get to the point, progressive metal has many faces, and Winds’ approach to it has a specific attractive essence. Its charm is revealed again in this album, created with the help of the ethereal piano instrumentals which have a main role, the guitar virtuosity of Carl Tidemann and the unique timber of Lars Eric Si. When this combination works perfectly there are the heavy sounds, and the emotional charge is on the top, where its place is. The acoustic improvisations are the needed exotic spice for creating one incredible “Prominence and Demise”! We also should not minimize Hellhammer’s part in the band - he is whole-hogger and stable on his throne behind the drums. The praises about this album can be endless. You should try hearing it so many times before you’ll be bored... but if “Universal Creation Array” didn’t grab you for the neck, do not start it at all.
