Metal brother, don’t be scared - traditional melodic metal won’t die soon! There are still people who know how to make good albums, and if you ask me about certain names, I can’t miss Axxis. It is one of the most foreseeable bands, but there’s nothing wrong with this - almost 20 years they are stable on stage and in spite of the variable success they continue to entertain their fans. No one can expect from his favorite band to release new records every year, but these days the Germans fulfill the plan to the brim. It is easy to find something unnatural in this, but the apprehensions are becoming groundless when we hear carefully the big discography of Axxis. “Doom of Destiny” is the next link from the great metal chain constructed by the group during the decades. Bernhard Weiss was always the most distinctive part from Axxis and his specific voice is on its place again. There’s no way for “Doom of Destiny” to impress you if you do not like the high timbre of the vocalist... The self-titled song sounds great after the short “Voices of Destiny”, which is put in the role of an epic intro. From this moment on we coast down the heavy hill without hesitation - we pass through a copy of the second song, after this we hear something similar again, there are the boring useless keyboard chords, a saxophone for splendour and nice female vocals, which turn out to be the secret component for half of the interesting minutes on the CD. It is logical that there will be creative borrowings after the past times, but it is good that in “Doom of Destiny” they are served in an elegant way, which attracts the attention and rises up the rating of the entire job.
