It is quite possible that you have never heard of The Duskfall. It is strange how such bands can not succeed in the media area without a valid argument really, but that’s a fact. On the other hand, everyone who has taken the tough job to describe their music has mentioned that there is something specific in it, a unique approach which makes the classifying of the band’s albums and the popularizing of its creators into the mass audience really hard. “The Dying Wonders of the World” is the fourth record that continues the compositional tendency started in its predecessors. Its main components are the terse guitar riffs, which gradate from melodic to more chaotic and noisy sound, the aggressive vocals and the perfect death/thrash instrumentals. The band is often attached to the slightly swelling combination of melodic death metallers, but The Duskfall’s exact charm is in the fact that they are different because of their success in grabbing the attention by combining own ideas with components from many other metal subgenres. Without superfluous efforts for originality, The Duskfall have created an undeviating album with modern sounding. Without swagger, only with serious attitude and talent, the musicians scraped off the best of themselves. It is hard to give a categorical rating for the place of the new disc among the others in the discography of the Swedes, that’s why we can only say that it is just a continuation of the already created. There was not an aggressive commercial campaign about “The Dying Wonders of the World”, nor were there needless praises. It is heavy, severe, simple, but a fine piece of work. It grabs fast and bores slow.
