Primordial proved that we should not make charts for our favorite albums released through the year before it is over. Their latest CD, “To the Nameless Dead”, became the reason for many people to change the names of the bands in their top lists because of putting it on the first place or near it. The Irish walked a long path in their development, and in the last few years they built a new image, which gained new fans for their cause. “The Gathering Wilderness” (2005) was so successful that logically its heir was awaited with huge interest. It is disputable to rate “To the Nameless Dead” in the discography of Primordial, but without any doubt it is one of the greatest albums they have ever recorded. In the depths of this unique combination of black, pagan and folk metal the band can boast as an original leader. Their new songs gather the whole palette of the stirring means of expression that were already used in the past from these musicians. The strong line about the questions of violence and the baneful power of the wars in the human history are the main motive for creating a bouquet of apocalyptic melodies in the new album. To the nameless dead, in praise of their deed of valour, in honor of their memory, Primordial have played their dark ode separated in eight compositions. The full dipping in this condemned music picture by a unique way is contributed by the brilliant artwork of “To the Nameless Dead”, which makes the pleasure from the original product complete and accomplished. As natural as this, when we hear all of the new songs and move our attention to the concert bonus versions of six of Primordial’s classics, it gets clear that Alan Averill is honest: “Some music still comes from the heart”!
