Everyone who had information about Kaskadiori in the last one or two years and watched their live performances, was certainty not surprised by the “change” made by the band. Now everybody should know that the new name of the group is Odd Crew and it lives a new life. As for the quotation marks from the previous sentence – they are there, because the boys actually changed themselves mainly externally, the packing is new, but the content, although dressed in different clothes, is not as new as it seems at first sight. Fast after Odd Crew decided to sing in English and after the rearranging of their priorities, the first album under this name was released. "We Are What We Are" in fact took up a whole year to its creators and it is obvious. The songs are ten, subordinated to the main idea about the sound - to be more powerful than before, the riffs to be at the same time slow and smashing with heaviness and fast enough for gathering a stable mix-up. The present mania about the southern sound like Down’s marked all of Odd Crew’s songs, which does not make them unique and innovative, but give them a specific charm that was missing at the Bulgarian scene. It is made a suitable balance between the faster and the slower compositions, which is the next good thing in "We Are What We Are" – it is not boring even after more than 10 hearings. The thrown bomb from "Monkey Pride" is exploding in "Piller Confusion" and "Misfit Fancy". I don’t want to point out the qualities of a single musician, because all four of them have a unique charisma, but also a professional attitude toward the things they’re doing. This is their bigger trump – with their honesty, the warmth and the friendship they offer to the fans, they win more than “only admirers”. Crazy propaganda groups are following them on their promo tour in Bulgaria. In Odd Crew no one is under pressure, there is no strain and anything “on any price” – things just happen well. They are a good machine, which is transforming in meat-chopping device at concerts. After 10 years on stage and many won fights, Odd Crew can be proud of their wonderful first album. It is a disc that won’t surprise you with the originality of the songs in it or with the genius of the lyrics, but it will surely make you think twice when you conclude about the bad situation at the Bulgarian metal scene. Odd Crew have a lot to learn and it will surely pass some time until the right moment will come, when we’ll hear the best that they can do. As long as nothing bad crosses their well chosen path, I think we won’t wait for a long time.
