Well, it happened. Lenny Kravitz embraced rock’n’roll again and turned his back on slime ballads and polished pop sound. One album, 14 songs (or 16, depending on the edition you have purchased), and now we can sleep well - his soul is sold. For rock’n’roll and a love revolution. For too long music televisions aired sugared pop hits that seemed as if they were not written by the same guy who twisted dreadlocks to the half of his back in the early 90’s and screamed, “My mama said…”. Obviously, Lenny got scared of catching diabetes of such sweetish icing and has dug out of the cardboard boxes the old CDs and LPs with the best panacea - genuine rock’n’roll. The songs in his eighth studio album “It Is Time for a Love Revolution” purely synthesize a creative tribute to the rock of the last four decades. The opening title track is typical Lenny Kravitz from the dawn of his carrier, “Bring It On” is brought by the sonar blast of the titans Led Zeppelin, the lyrical and pleasant “Good Morning” could easily have come out by the pen of the eternal John Lennon, and “Love, Love, Love” is a funky madness in the spirit of the strongest years of Red Hot Chili Peppers. In short, Lenny has collected the influences that have built his musical culture and has stirred them in a wonderful bouquet under which we can easily read his signature - this specific reading of his of rock, funk and soul, as if the hysteria of James Brown collides with the guitar of Hendrix, united by the charisma of the music of The Beatles. Many influences and the joining link of the guitarist and singer make “It Is Time for a Love Revolution” one of the strongest mainstream rock albums lately. This CD could easily stand next to his greatest releases “Mama Said” and “Are You Gonna Go My Way”. Revolution!
