Aftert the first few seconds of the opening song you already feel it's gonna be the typical punk rock of the "three chords and rock'n'roll dances" type, as a sign that everything is the same as it used to be back in the old days. However, things are different when talking about sound. Not so psychedelic, like the good ol' stuff, but as a character of Irvine Welsh's "Trainspotting" used to say: Times change, so do drugs. In the same way evolves the sound of The Stooges, competing not that much with time, but with youngsters inspired by them, like Eagles of Death Metal (America) or Dollhouse (Europe). A paradox, you may say. The main inspiration for most psychedelic garage rock bands from decades is releasing its first album after 30 years of silence. And if there's still someone questioning the cult status of the absolute rock'n'roll icon Iggy Pop, or still thinking that this reunion and the following release "The Weirdness" are useless ot whatever, then let them just listen to "My Idea of Fun". And Lemmy should refresh his statement that there are only two true rock'n'roll bands left after the demise of The Ramones - Motorhead and AC/DC... Because with their new album the legends and co-inventors of punk rock, The Stooges, are back to take what always used to be theirs - the crown! Maybe the only weak part in this CD are the lyrics... Which immediately takes us back to the relativity of the connection age/substance... Weirdness!
