Empty Face are releasing this EP as a precursor of an upcoming full-length album. They also have a demo from a few years ago ("Face the Emptiness", 2005). During the last few years the guys didn't waste their time, as they performed at all kinds of concerts across the country (and outside of it) and at a few big festivals, too. So if you’re into this kind of music, you've probably already heard of them. Don't play dumb...
"Waiting for a Sign" is the release where we can hear the more mature (compared to the demo) current style of the band. Typical punk moments with fast rhythm plus a lot of energy and angry social lyrics are mixed nicely with more intimate melodic ones. The two vocalists take turns for most of the time, but also succeed in making nice harmonies together. Now... don't expect Bruce Dickinson-ish singing - we're talking about college punk rock here, after all. The EP has a pretty decent sound quality and a nice artwork, too. For the first we'll have to blame ex-Distorment’s guitarist Bobi, who's actually doing quite a nice job at recording similar bands (take a listen to P.I. as well).
There's a lot of similar punk rock in the world - just think about Green Day, Blink 182, Pennywise, the Bulgarians Crowfish and Spot... However, does this actually mean we shouldn't enjoy Empty Face’s music? Hell no! The most frequent thought that comes to mind after listening to "Waiting for a Sign" is that "these blinkers" can play pretty fickin' well (check it out for yourselves in our mp3 section). We're waiting for the album!
