The release of Ahat’s brand new live album raises one critical question - who the hell needs this CD? Which serious band releases live CDs nowdays? Pretty much none. This whole live album thing made sense until the end of the 90’s. Since then they started releasing live DVDs, because the technology developed and became more accessible. And, after all, fans like to watch the band play, don’t they? Now almost noone buys DVDs, too, because websites like YouTube fucked this business in the ass. And this is speaking globaly. In Bulgaria it’s even simpler - even less people buy original CDs. Those who do try to make sure they spend their money on something that’s worth it. The others download torrents and delete everything afterwards. And so, I don’t know who thinks it’s worth it giving €5 to hear recordings identical to the studio ones of all the songs from “The March” (1989) in shuffled order, plus “Motto”, “Monologue” and a cover song… All of this accompanied by shyly mixed crowd chants. Cause it’s a live CD, ain’t it? Harbour Island Records have made sure that even the thing that would make the few probable CD buyers spend their money on an album - the booklet - is as unintriguing as possible. Ten pages of nothing but pics of the five metal warriors and nothing else. Even the otherwise interesting information where and when the hell was the show recorded didn’t find it’s place on the pages. Basically, if you do own the CD-reissue of “The March” from a few years ago, there is no actual reason for you to purchase “Golden Rock Tour 2004”. The only potential effect of this live album is to make you want to listen to the original studio stuff again. And if you’re a fan, you do already own that. A completely pointless release.
