“Cover Up” is the last awesome moment of the long slow goodbye Al Jourgensen has offered Ministry fans - starting with the announcement of the band’s end, going through the last slap across George Bush’s face, “The Last Sucker”, and ending with the farewell tour that will even go through Bulgaria on July 12, 2008. The album carries us into an atmosphere of a smoke-filled old rock bar where big bearded rockers play pool and a rusty jukebox plays even rustier songs on the frontline between rock and blues. And all of this metalized! Things kick off with an awesome interpretation of The Rolling Stones’ “Under My Thumb” where Fear Factory’s Burton C. Bell roars, too - this song alone is enough to make you check out the album. Covers of T-Rex, Golden Earring, Mountain and the almighty Deep Purple follow - these tracks aren't really any different from the originals besides the extra distortion and speed added. So what? They’re ideal for partying! Ministry’s interpretation of ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid”, on the other hand, kicks ass to an extent never dreamed of by the bearded Texas folks. Next are a few covers we have already heard on other Ministry albums, with only Sabbath’s “Supernaut” being a little bit different. The cherry on top is Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” that evolves into a furious fastass punk rocker. So perfect it’s even kinda predictable. There is also a nice little bonus track with the lyrics of ”Stigmata” sung to Al’s muse - Geroge Bush (couldn’t help it, eh?). As a whole, “Cover Up” is a nice bonus to the real final nail in Ministry’s carrier (“The Last Sucker”), and it will be played a lot on different occasions for sure - mostly alcohol and other substances related ones. And you can be sure Al’s not fucking around - the man doesn’t intend to do a hundred “farewell tours” like Kiss, so remember: C U LaTouR is your last chance!
