Do you know that feeling when your favourite musicians stay true to you and show their uniqueness in every single note they write? Yes, you do and Disturbed are carrying their new surprise to your ears and mind. What strikes first in Indestructible is the heaviness of it all. Not that the guitars’ or drums’ production is strengthened in any way but the techniques and structures simply express a deeper, faster and harder emotion that is lying behind the notes of these songs. Double-bass drumming has always been present in Disturbed’s music but it has that much been just a complement. Here, it plays the main role for a quick-paced, though ever-changing tempo. Isn’t that enough? Well then, solos are waiting for you, many of them, just in the right place, epic and often moving. All of this combined with wonderful and surprising structures and passages that keep you awake and aware. So much for the technical part. And if you think I’ve forgotten something that has always been behind Disturbed, yes, you are right, David Draiman’s vocal magics seem to be hidden in a bottomless chest. At first, that was what made me feel nervous, waiting for the new masterpiece. I was afraid of him tiring and losing his ability to write words as if he’s doing a puzzle, when a piece, once found, fits perfectly and stays irreplaceable. But it seems my doubting has been a waste of time. David is even more serious, crying for peace and dignity, winding with rhymes and simple but terribly strong expressions. This is it, the ones who have ears on their heads and hearts in their chests are ready to accept the message Disturbed are preaching all the time, musically and lyrically perfected: “Open your mind, music saves us mortals!”
