Drowning Pool issues its third album on Tuesday (August 7th), titled Full Circle. The disc also introduces the band’s third lead singer, former Soil frontman Ryan McCombs. Drowning Pool’s original vocalist, Dave Williams, died of a heart defect while on Ozzfest in the summer of 2002. His replacement, Jason “Gong” Jones, left the band after just one record due to musical and creative differences.
Full Circle features a couple of songs co-written by Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx.
The album’s first single, “Soldiers,” was inspired by Drowning Pool’s visits to the Middle East last year to perform for U.S. troops.
The band is participating in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles with members of the non-profit organization Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) to discuss the current crisis for U.S. soldiers facing severe mental health care issues upon their return home.
Drowning Pool recently announced that 50 cents of each ticket sale from its current tour is going to IAVA, with another 50 cents going to the USO. The trek stops in Great Falls, Montana on Thursday
