Spotify will begin labeling certain AI-generated artist profiles with a new AI Persona badge starting in mid-September.
The badge is meant to signal when an artist’s public identity may be AI-generated and does not represent a real person. It will appear on artist profiles, in search, and on track rows across playlists.
Artists can self-disclose as AI Personas through Spotify for Artists, though Spotify will also review profiles and apply the badge when appropriate. Profiles flagged by Spotify will be notified and given the opportunity to self-disclose or appeal.
By default, Spotify says AI Personas will not be included in editorial or algorithmic recommendations unless a listener follows those profiles.
The new badge is part of Spotify’s broader 2026 push around artist identity and transparency, which also includes Verified by Spotify, AI Credits, SongDNA, Artist Details, and Artist Profile Protection.
