A rare Darth Vader costume used in one of the original Star Wars films is expected to sell for up to ВЈ230,000 when it goes up for auction next month.
The costume, believed to have been used in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back movie, will go under the hammer at London’s Christie’s auction house on November 25. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Research UK charity.
It’s the first time a complete Darth Vader costume will be offered at auction. It was originally bought by an American collector seven years ago.
A spokesperson for the auction house said: “Darth Vader is defined by his costume, which has made him one of the most recognised characters from the history of film.”
Several actors have contributed to making Darth Vader one of the greatest screen villains. In The Empire Strikes Back David Prowse filled the suit while James Earl Jones supplied the voice.
