Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has been voted the best guitarist of the last 30 years by listeners of under-threat radio station BBC6 Music.
Their Axe Factor contest polled more than 30,000 listeners, who voted for Frusciante ahead of stars including Slash, Prince, Matt Bellamy of Muse and Johnny Marr of the Smiths – with Metallica’s Kirk Hammett at number six.
